Anyela Ulloa
This is a story of a young girl. A girl called Margie Mora. She was 21 years old, and she lived in Copey, but moved to San José to make her life. She told us about an important moment of her life. It started when she finished high school. She moved to San José for work and college, to start a new stage of her life. She needs to take care of herself because she doesn't have anyone that supports her. She found someone that become her boyfriend. He was some years older than her, and he was a divorced man. They met in San José, because they lived too close. At that time she was young, so she used to go to parties with her boyfriend and friends. She thought that his boyfriend was an amazing boy, until she knew that she was pregnant and he became so different from how he used to be. He changed his personality and treated her so badly. He was always in a bad mood, and he yelled at her.
She says she felt so bad after that event, so she decided to return to Copey; the place where she grew up, the place where her mother, grandma and grandpa lived. And the moment to tell her family came. She says she felt scared to tell them about the situation, no more than embarrassed and disappointed, especially because she moved to Cartago to make her life, to start working and study. However the absence of money to pay the college and transport forced her to return home.
At the moment she saw her mother, she started to cry and her mother knew what was happening. Her mom supported her at the beginning, like her grandma and grandpa did. She broke up with her boyfriend because she felt really bad to be with someone that treated her so badly. Just her family were supporting her at that moment.
After a few days she needed to return to San José to take her things with her and talk with the father of her son about what they would do. Of course he said he will not take care of him, after that she says that she started feeling physically bad. Days later she was still feeling bad so she decided to go to the doctor. After many reviews the doctor tell her, she was suffering a miscarriage, thing that break her heart and she still has that moment to the present. She thought of a lot of things, but never that she can have a miscarriage. This was a situation that she never expected. The baby just died for reasons that Margie and the doctors didn't know. There was no specific reason; she just lost the baby.
After having this traumatic situation, she couldn’t bury her baby, because the doctors never gave back the baby's body to her. Margie says that at this moment she doesn't know why she never claimed him. In the middle of everything she just wanted to go home, she was feeling so bad because of this situation.
“Learning about the good and bad experiences”, she says, “everything can be overcome”.
After everything that happened, it is important to admire a person who was just 21 years old, who kept going with a situation like this. Nowadays she has two daughters and I am one of them. My mother Margie is married to someone who loves her, no matter what. When she looks back she feels an emptiness in her stomach, but she still has her baby in her thoughts and heart. She advises a young woman that is in a similar situation, that everything is going to be ok, no matter what. They are not alone and everything happens for a reason. Finally she learned to be strong to give love to her family, no matter the bad moments she had in her life.
